Cricket's three formats and the tournaments fans follow
From T20 to five-day Test — each format brings a different kind of game, different strategies and different betting opportunities.
T20 — Fast and Intense
BPL IPL T20 World CupEvery ball matters in a 20-over match. Bangladesh's teams in BPL and India's franchises in IPL have made this format hugely popular. Odds move quickly in T20, which makes live betting particularly engaging.
ODI — The 50-Over Contest
ICC World Cup Bilateral SeriesIn this 50-over format, batting, bowling and fielding all play an equal part. The Bangladesh Tigers' performances at the ICC ODI World Cup always generate a special level of interest among fans at home.
Test — The Five-Day Challenge
International Test Bilateral SeriesA draw is a valid outcome in a five-day Test match, so the betting market offers three results — Team A wins, Team B wins and draw. Odds shift innings by innings over the course of a long match, which makes Test cricket particularly interesting for strategic bettors.
How betting on football and other sports differs
Besides cricket, oklv also offers betting on football, tennis and other sports. Football has a long season with daily matches, so its betting markets tend to be more liquid. Cricket has fewer matches, but odds change ball by ball and there are more specialised markets such as toss, top run-scorer and over/under.
Football markets typically cover 90-minute results, Asian handicap and number of goals. Cricket markets for wickets, partnerships and bowling figures add more variety to the betting. Reading the sports events betting guide will give you a clear picture of the differences between each sport.
Popular betting markets in cricket with examples
You can place bets on multiple markets in any match. Each has its own rules — see a brief overview below.
Match Winner
All FormatsA bet on which team will win the match. In T20 there are only two outcomes (Team A or Team B); in Test, a draw also counts. Example: Team A vs Team B — you think Team A will win, so you bet on Team A.
Toss Market
T20 · ODI · TestA bet on which team will win the toss before the match begins. The result is settled right at the start of the match, making it a quick bet that many people are familiar with.
Top Batsman
T20 · ODIWhich batsman will score the most runs in the match? This market is a bet on who will be the highest run-scorer within a team. Picking the team's leading scorer is the core of this market.
Total Runs Over/Under
T20 · ODIThe bookmaker sets a line — for example, 320 runs. If you think both teams combined will score more than 320, choose over. If you think they will score fewer than 320, choose under.
Multi Bet
Multiple MatchesA single bet combining multiple selections. For example, if you pick winners from three matches, the odds are multiplied together. However, if even one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost — higher risk, higher potential return.
Top Bowler Market
ODI · TestA bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in a match or an innings. Consider whether a pace-friendly pitch favours pacers or a spin-friendly track favours spinners.
Decimal, fractional and American — three odds formats
The same price can appear in three different formats on a betting site. Once you understand them, reading any format becomes straightforward.
| Format | Team A win price | Return on a ৳500 bet |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 3.00 | ৳1,500 (৳1,000 profit + ৳500 stake) |
| Fractional | 2/1 | Same return — 2 parts profit per 1 part stake |
| American | +200 | Same return — +200 means ৳200 profit on a ৳100 stake |
Example 1: Team A's win odds are 3.00 in decimal = 2/1 in fractional = +200 in American. A ৳500 bet returns a total of ৳1,500 if Team A wins (৳1,000 profit plus ৳500 stake back). If Team A loses, the ৳500 is gone.
Example 2: Favourite Team B's odds are 1.50 in decimal = 1/2 in fractional = -200 in American. American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100 — here it is ৳200. A ৳500 bet returns a total of ৳750 if Team B wins (৳250 profit).
How do odds work in a multi bet?
If three selections across three matches have odds of 1.50, 1.80 and 1.90, in a multi bet these are multiplied: 1.50 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 5.13 (approximately). So a ৳100 bet returns ৳513 if all three selections win. If any one of them loses, the full ৳100 is gone.
Multi bets are for entertainment — they are not a reliable source of income.
How odds change when a wicket falls or an over ends
Live in-play betting lets you bet while the match is in progress. After each wicket, the odds of the team that is ahead shorten and the odds of the team that is behind lengthen. At the end of the powerplay, the bookmaker quickly updates odds based on the run rate.
Say Team A has lost 3 wickets in the first 10 overs — their chances of winning have dropped, so their odds will rise. If Team B has made a strong start, their odds will shorten. These changes happen fast, so making timely decisions is important in live betting.
You can view live score updates directly in the oklv App and place bets from there, making the experience of following a match on mobile much more immediate.
Things to keep in mind when betting on cricket
- Set a budget: Decide how much you will bet before each match. Betting is for entertainment — it is best not to have high expectations about how much you will win.
- Understand the format: In T20, a big over can change the course of an entire match. ODI and Test require different strategies — know the rules of each format before you bet.
- Get to know the markets: It is not just about match winner — toss and over/under are also familiar markets. Start with small bets when trying a new market.
- Bet on information, not emotion: Set aside any bias towards your favourite team and consider pitch conditions, team form and weather.
- No rushing in live betting: Odds change quickly during in-play betting. Watch the pattern of the match rather than making hasty decisions.
- Bet responsibly: Betting is for enjoyment — increasing your bets to chase losses is not the right approach. Follow the responsible gaming policy.
A different kind of betting beyond cricket
Besides sports betting like cricket, oklv also has crash-style games such as Go Rush — where a multiplier keeps climbing and the key is cashing out at the right moment. If you want an experience that is different from sports betting, these games are worth trying.
There are also slots, live casino and many other options for casino fans. This page, however, focuses on cricket betting.
